Features at 52: April at Hugged Apparel
I am so excited to share my first Features at 52! Today I am sharing the work of April at Hugged Apparel. They are a small family owned business with a fun line of apparel and accessories. Check them out at https://www.huggedapparel.com/ and see more about them below!
“My name is April and my husband Josh and I are just regular parents with some big ideas. I love to design and draw and together we’ve curated a unique and fun collection of products. Our company is Hugged Apparel. The name is a play on our last name (Huggins) and because our shirts are comfy and huggable. T-shirts are our main focus but you will also see mugs, market totes and art prints. We are a family owned small business and every dime you spend with us helps our little family thrive. We are so excited to share our designs with you!”
What is your craft/product? How did you get started?
“Our store has t-shirts, market bags, mugs and art prints available. All of our designs are original and designed by me, even down to our logo. Many start as sketches and are digitized or interpreted to become a product.”
What is your can’t-live-without item that helps your create your work?
“My can’t live without it product is probably my sketch book! (and a #2 pencil) That’s where all the creating gets started. From there it is Adobe Photoshop.”
How would you describe your style? Are there any crafters/artists/designers that you particularly look up to?
“I’d describe my style as fun. I like to take artistic details and translate them into every day life. Something that’s simple but fun to wear. I love Culture Flock’s designs and products. They are fun and a lot of times down right funny!”
What do you do to make your workspace an enriching and inspiring place to be?
“I have a bag I carry with my essentials so anywhere I go can become my work place. I pack it with visually fun planners, sketch books, a bag of art supplies and my laptop.”
What do you find inspiring you right now? Where do you look for inspiration?
“I love quotes that are empowering or promote positivity. I like the idea of spreading positivity just by wearing something fun. I also love to be able to show my personality and hobbies off on a tshirt so you will see a lot of that.”
What do you do to keep yourself organized?
“Organization is a struggle for most creative people! I keep a calendar with tasks and lists and do certain tasks every day. This helps me stay focused.”
Where do you sell your product? How can customers follow you?
“I sell my products at www.huggedapparel.com I also have a store attached to my blog at www.aprildoesthat.com
You can follow us on social media to keep up with us and to find the occasional secret discount.”
I hope you can take a little time and check out this fun company and support small business. Thanks for sharing your work April!
